Todd's Take

Good morning and welcome to our worship service. If you are a guest with us this morning we welcome you and invite you to join in with us as we honor our Creator and Savior.

This morning I will be wrapping up our series on King David. What an inspiring, interesting, and instructive life David led. We learn from him the beauty of devotion to God and at the same time we learn form him the destructive consequences of sin. If you want to study his life deeper let me remind you of a few book recommendations I gave a couple of weeks ago:

  • Leap Over a Wall: Earthy Spirituality for Everyday Christians by Eugene H. Peterson
  • Facing Your Giants, by Max Lucado
  • Great Lives: David: A Man of Passion and Destiny by Charles R. Swindoll

With The Crown soon behind us I will round out the summer with sermons based on your input. It’s time again for Parishioner’s Picks where you choose the sermon text. If you have a scripture that is meaningful to you, or if you have a scripture that has been difficult for you to grasp, or if you feel like a scripture has not been preached on in a while then let me know and I’ll do what I can. Email me your scripture or better yet fill out the form at pacoc.net/p2p. I always love to get your suggestions!

We welcome back our group who went to Casa de Esperanza this last week. We pray that all were blessed by their time serving the children there. I encourage you to ask one of the participants to share their favorite story of the week as I'm sure they have many to choose from.

A quick thank you to Cina Strickland who has been part-time staff here at PACOC for the last few years. She has had to transition away this month. We’ve been blessed with her graphic design expertise and her presence in the office.  She and Kevin are still in Denison and here at PACOC.

A quick update on our Pressing On initiative as we join hands with the Siburt Institute at ACU in seeking God’s preferred future for PACOC

All the data from staff interviews, focus groups, and the congregational survey is being processed and our consultant, Barry Stephens, will be meeting with the leadership in early August to share with us the findings. Continue prayers for the church as we seek to be everything God has called us to be as we represent Him in and from Texoma.
