TODD’S TAKE
Welcome to our worship service! We're glad to have you here, whether you're a longtime member or a first-time visitor. If you have any questions about Park Avenue or would like to know more about the Lord, please seek us out.
What do you get when you combine 720 hot dogs, 34 trunks, 500 snow cones, 1 turtle, 3 sheep, 2 pigs, 1 bunny, and over 1,000 kids? You get Trunk N Treat here at Park Avenue! Last Sunday night was a wonderful evening as we served our community in the name of Jesus. Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen!
Last Sunday was also a beautiful sight as we brought our pledges to the Lord. As I said in last week’s sermon, I am blessed to be a child of God and grateful to serve Him through this congregation. Thank you all for your generosity as we Press On! If you weren’t able to be here last Sunday, you can still make your pledge today. Pledge cards are available at the Welcome Centers, and you can bring your pledge to the cross set up at the front of the Worship Center or hand them to an elder. Pledges can also be made at pacoc.net/pledge.
Today I begin a sermon series on the Lord's Supper. After the service, we'll celebrate with a meal together, something that's common in our culture and in the culture of the Bible as well. Food is such a tangible expression of God's goodness, and it naturally draws out our thanks, or at least it should. The trouble is that we so often eat on the run: buzzing through a drive-through, eating at our desks, or eating in front of the television. Too often we take for granted how God has provided for us.
The same thing can happen with the Lord's Supper. We rush through it, our minds are preoccupied, and we eat without truly experiencing the blessing of communion. So as we enter a month known for feasting, I want us to give serious attention to the feast of all feasts: the Lord's Supper.
I hope you'll stay for our celebration in the Ark after the service!
Pressing On Forward in Faith – Today is Celebration Sunday
Today we gather together as a church family to celebrate what God is doing through us and set our sights on the future.
Following worship, we’ll share a meal together in the Ark! Thank you to everyone who brought a dish to share. There’s a place for everyone at the table, so please stay and join us. We look forward to celebrating together!
