TODD’S TAKE

What a joy it is to have you with us this morning. We are so glad you chose to spend part of your day here - worshiping together, sharing communion, and opening God's Word.

In the Crown Divided series, we've seen a relentless spiritual decline. So how do we stay faithful when everything is falling apart? The life of Elijah shows us the way.

Elijah lived during Ahab's reign—perhaps the darkest hour in the Northern Kingdom. The headlines were devastating: Baal temples built, prophets hunted, enemies advancing. Elijah felt the discouragement. He thought God had lost control.

But here's what the darkness couldn't hide: God was still pursuing His people relentlessly through prophet after prophet. This was the age of the prophets.

We see this in Elijah's own story. On Mount Carmel, one faithful voice connected to God shook an entire nation. Fire fell from heaven. The people declared, "The Lord is God!" Yet the kingdom didn't change. Evil continued. Faithfulness isn't measured by winning—it's measured by standing.

Then Elijah collapsed into discouragement in a cave, convinced he was alone. God showed him the truth: 7,000 others hadn't bowed to Baal. A faithful remnant existed that Elijah couldn't see.

God met Elijah not in the dramatic wind, earthquake, or fire—but in a still small voice. The crisis wasn't that God abandoned him; it was that Elijah stopped listening.

This is our story too. We face cultural pressure and discouragement. But God is still pursuing. A faithful remnant still exists. And God promises vindication—not worldly victory, but His "well done."

Dark worlds need bright lights. God sent Elijah to his world. He's sending us to ours.
