TODD’S TAKE
Good morning and welcome to our worship service. What a blessing to gather together to worship and fellowship. If you are a guest with us this morning we welcome you and invite you to join in with us as we honor our creator and savior. If you are looking for a church home, please feel free to let us know if you have any questions.

This morning we will continue our survey of Paul’s letters looking at 1 Corinthians. Paul had a long and intimate relationship with this church and writes not only this letter but a second one as well. The church in Corinth apparently had written to Paul about several matters that Paul responds to in 1 Corinthians. In 1 Corinthians 7:1 Paul implies this previous correspondence—”Now   concerning the matters about which you wrote …” There are a lot of issues threatening this church and Paul makes every effort to set them straight. The foundational issue behind all these matters is the Corinthians being influenced by cultural values rather than allowing kingdom values to determine their worldview and behavior. Although the particular issues may differ in our world, the foundational question remains the same—are we building our lives on cultural or kingdom values?

Let me encourage everyone to join us tonight at Trinity Lighthouse Church here in Denison at 6:30 pm for our annual Community Thanksgiving Service. It’s a great time of worship and fellowship as our city gathers together in Christ to thank him for all He has done for us.

The elders and ministers spent this weekend at our annual retreat planning for next year and the years to come. Our hope and prayer is that Park Avenue continues to be a vibrant and growing church shining the light of the good news to Texoma and beyond. When we look at the church in Corinth it becomes so obvious how quickly a church can become less than the ideal God has for them. We want to always make sure we are seeking God’s will for us individually and as a church and that takes conscious and focused effort. Thank all of you for your dedicated and faithful service. Continue praying for our leadership that the Spirit of God may guide us in all our decisions.
