TODD'S TAKE
Good morning and welcome to our time of worship. It’s always a blessing to be together as a church family. Welcome to our guests. We are glad you are here and welcome any questions you have about Park Avenue and our mission. Track me down or email me and I’d be glad to talk with you.
This morning in our preaching time I will continue addressing our Parishioner’s Picks and this week is a doozy. We will talk about spiritual gifts and especially the gift of prophesy. There has been much division within Christianity concerning the miraculous gifts and today we will look at what and why we teach and practice what we do. We’ll also take a closer look at the gift of prophesy and explore whether this gift is still active today.
In any case, today I want us to be aware that we are all gifted to serve as members of the body of Christ. One thing that makes PACOC an effective and vibrant church is the very fact that we are using those gifts to serve the Lord. As you read through the Messenger, no doubt you can find ways to serve. Help the hungry by buying some groceries for the Barnabas Center. Help out with the directory by hosting photography times. Bless our Lady Jackets by helping with our breakfasts. All of us working together shine the light of God’s goodness to our community.
Surely the Spirit of the Lord is in this place.
Online Photo Directory Snapshots
This Fall we are updating our member photos for our online Church Directory. This will be different from years past as we will be doing everything ourselves. We will have volunteers taking your pictures and there will be no sales. We hope to speed up the process as well as each family will come in for a snapshot and be on their way in a matter of minutes. We want everyone to participate and to encourage you we will be giving every family a free 5x7 photo.
We do need you to sign up for a time. You can find the link on the website or app or call the church office and Joan can set you up an appointment. We will be taking pictures starting September 17th through October 15th. We have times on Sundays and Wednesdays before and after church and we will have some times during the week. If you are able to sign up during the week, that would be really helpful. That will allow those individuals and families who have more rigid schedules to signup on the church days.
