TODD'S TAKE
Good morning and  welcome to our worship service. A special welcome to our guests. If you have any questions about Park Avenue or Christianity in general, feel free to track down one of our ministers or elders or contact us any time.

With Thanksgiving in the rear-view mirror, I guess it’s time to start thinking about Christmas. Every so often Christmas falls on a Sunday and this year is one of those “every-so-often’s”. With that in mind, our Candlelight Service will be on Christmas Day itself rather than on Christmas Eve. That Sunday we will have a one-hour service at 10 AM with no adult or children's classes.  What an opportunity to gather together on Christmas Day to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I’m looking forward to that time together.

Even though Thanksgiving is behind us, today I will be talking about a world where instead of celebrating Thanksgiving we would celebrate  Thanklessgiving. Imagine what our lives would be like if we were never thankful. Sadly, it’s easy to slip into a thankless spirit and God help us never to do that.

We are in the process of preparing the 2023 budget for the church which also means we are looking forward to how God will be working through us in the next year. PACOC is so blessed by all of you and your participation in the ministries of the church and your financial support of those ministries. We want to continue to let our light shine brightly so others can see the God who is constantly reaching out to mankind. As 2022 comes to a close please consider how you will serve and financially support our outpost of God’s kingdom here in Texoma.

Another important event coming up in 2023 is our elder selection process. Years ago the leadership determined to go through this process every three years to designate new elders and also give the existing elders an opportunity to commit for another three years or to step aside based on their life circumstances. I urge you to be in prayer for God’s leadership and direction in this important time.  This three-year cycle is also an opportunity for all of us to be thankful for the spiritual leadership our Elders bring to the church. The process will begin early on in 2023.

We also want to express our appreciation to all the volunteers who worked last Monday and Tuesday at the Barnabas Center to make Thanksgiving possible for those in our community.  We passed out 135 boxes!
