TODD'S TAKE
Good morning and welcome to our special time of worship.
Everyone remembers their favorite teacher. Someone who especially helped you understand a difficult subject. Someone who not only knew the material but was able to present it well. Someone who you knew cared about you.
Of all the titles and roles Jesus filled, one was a teacher. Among the many teaching methods he used was using stories to teach us about what life is really all about. We call those stories parables and they are among the favorite and most familiar passages to many Christians.
This morning we will begin a series of sermons looking at these parables of Jesus. As we do so, I believe you will find Jesus to be a most brilliant teacher. If he’s not on your list of favorites, I hope these stories will add him to your list.
Welcome to all who have come to honor Jesus. We are glad that you’re here. If you are a guest, please find me or one of our other ministers after church to say hello.
It’ good to be here. Let’s clear our minds of all worries and concerns and turn our hearts and minds to our Creator.
TODAY IS BACK TO CHURCH SUNDAY
Join us in the community celebration at Forest Park from 4:30-6:00 with bounce houses, music, and food trucks and then stay for our community worship at Munson Stadium from 6:00-7:00. Jay Thomas, a Dove Award nominated singer and songwriter, will lead our worship and Denison’s new football coach and athletic director Brent Whitson will share with us his passion for the local church.
TAKE THE GOSPEL CHALLENGE
This morning we continue a new Sunday AM adult Bible class called the Gospel Challenge. We will spend the next year diving into the gospels. Using Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John we will take a chronological look at the life and ministry of Jesus.
Even if you are not able to attend class we encourage you to consider reading along as part of your daily time in the Word. Weekly readings will be posted on the church app and website for you to keep pace.
Spend the next 12 months with Jesus!
