TODD'S TAKE
Welcome to Worship.
Good morning and welcome! We're so glad to be together as a church family today. If you're visiting with us, thank you for being here—we'd love to get to know you.
As we prepare for Thanksgiving, we'll look at a text from Luke 17:11-19 that will give us insight into what gratitude really looks like.
This morning in our sermon time we will look at the story of the healing of the ten lepers as Jesus makes his final journey to Jerusalem. All ten received the same miracle. All ten were made whole, their bodies completely restored. But only one came back to say thank you—and he was a Samaritan, the least likely person anyone would have expected to return.
What made this man different? What set him apart from the other nine who received the exact same blessing? And what does his response teach us about real, transforming gratitude?
This Thanksgiving, we'll discover three powerful lessons from this grateful leper about how to be truly thankful: be humble, be quick, and be loud. We'll learn how gratitude isn't just about acknowledging our blessings—it's about recognizing the Blesser and letting that recognition transform our lives. Because the greatest gift isn't what God gives us. It's God Himself. And when we truly understand that, everything changes.
We had a great time Wednesday night and a great crowd at our annual Chili/Soup Supper. Thanks to everyone who brought food and to everyone who helped with setup and cleanup. We will be off this Wednesday night for the Thanksgiving holiday but will be back December 3 with PAWS and classes.
Just a reminder—if you haven’t had a chance to hear George Hatfield's announcement about our ten-year vision go to pacoc.net/vision to see where the leadership sees God leading us in the next decade. As 2026 rolls around you will hear more details.
This next year (2026) marks the three-year cycle of elder selection. In January we will lay out the process to the congregation, but even now we urge you to be in prayer for this process and to begin giving consideration of who you believe could serve PACOC as an elder.
