TODD’S TAKE
Good morning and welcome to our worship services. If you are a guest with us today, our prayer is that you are blessed by our time of worship. We invite you to talk with any of us about how God is working through the Park Avenue Church.
Easter Sunday Reflection
What a great Sunday we had last week as we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus! Our two services went well with 165 at the 8:00 AM service and 535 at the 10:00 AM service. I'm thankful to our office and ministerial staff for the extra planning required to make Easter a special time together. Thanks also to all the volunteers (some who served at both services) who served so willfully and joyfully.
In addition to having a wonderful time of worship in song, prayer, communion, and in the Word, we demonstrated our worship of God by once again giving so generously in our Grace Offering. In all, you have given over $160,000 to fund the outreach efforts of the Park Avenue Church. A special note: coins came in after Daisy's Little Red Wagon collection to bring that total to a record-setting $3,678.35! Well done!
Ladies Retreat
We are missing almost 100 women this morning as they gather this weekend for the annual Ladies Retreat at the Prothro Center on Lake Texoma. Prayers that their time is rich and blessed. Again, thanks to all the ladies who have spent hours planning and running this event.
Today's Sermon: "The Crown - Season 3"
In our sermon time this morning, we will begin Season 3 of "The Crown" as we work our way through the kings of Israel and Judah. This season we will look at the reign of King Solomon, son of David. His story is found in 1 Kings 10-11 and 2 Chronicles 1-9.
In our Daily Bible Reading plan, we have already read about King Solomon, so this will be a review for some. However, in many of our Bible reading groups meeting on Wednesday night, the story of Solomon is still coming up. For those groups, this will serve as a preview of what you will be reading soon. In any case, it is another moving story of how God is working through the nation of Israel while ultimately foreshadowing the coming of another son of David whose reign will last forever.
