NEWS & NOTES

Trunk ‘n Treat
Our Trunk ‘n Treat will be on Sunday, October 27th at 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the church parking lot. If you would like to volunteer your trunk you can sign up on the app or go to pacoc.net/tnt.  We currently have about 24 trunks and we are looking for 6 more! We need about 30 trunks to accommodate the large crowds we typically draw. This is a great outreach effort of PACOC and a great and fun way to serve.  In addition, we are in need of candy donations. You can bring your donations and place them in the baskets at either side of the hallways.

TODD’S TAKE
Good morning and welcome to our worship services this morning.

Today in our sermon time I will continue our journey through the book of James. Our text this morning will be James 2:14-26. In this section James will dive into what many consider to be his theme of the letter—faith without works is useless. A faith that works, works.

I don’t want this sermon to be just a guilt trip to get us all to do more things. Guilt trips usually don’t last very long and seldom get us to our destination. Instead, as I’ve spent time in this text I have been challenged to really evaluate my faith. If indeed my faith is real then it ought to manifest itself in the good deeds James is expecting of believers. So, today I put that same challenge to you. Is your faith a genuine faith?

As we have been updating you throughout the last several months, the elders and minsters have partnered with the Siburt Institute of Abilene Christian University to help us plan for the future as we anticipate internal and a external changes over the next decade here at PACOC and in Texoma. We’ve been working with one of their consultants, Barry Stephens, who will be with us next Sunday to share with the congregation the findings from the focus groups and the Church Health Assessment. Barry will also be giving us an encouraging word from scripture to live into the high calling we have all received as children of God and to truly embrace the church's call to be the living presence of Christ in our world.

Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13–14
