TODD'S TAKE
Good morning. What a blessing it is to worship together as the body of Christ! Welcome to all our church family and to our guests.

Today I will continue a series of lessons from a small and neglected book of the Bible, Jude. In today’s section of Jude (verses 5-19) there are several references to events in the Old Testament. Some of these we might be quite familiar with, but others are less known. The stories of Cain and Abel, the Exodus, and Sodom and Gomorrah are some of the stories we’ve known since childhood. But what about Balaam and Korah? The names may sound familiar but the details may escape us.

Reading through Jude reminds me of how important it is to be students of the Bible—not just the New Testament but the Old Testament as well. Knowing these Old Testament stories gives us a deeper understanding of not only Jude but of the entire New Testament.

On Wednesday evenings I’m meeting with a group of guys who are reading through the entire Bible. We’ve just started the New Testament, but I hear comments of how reading through the Old Testament is adding so much to comprehending the New. Let me encourage you to continue in deepening your knowledge of the Bible.

We are missing all the women who are at the Ladies Retreat this weekend. What a wonderful annual event for these women to grow in love for one another and in their love for the Lord. We are blessed to have such passionate leadership in the church that plans out events like this.

A couple of opportunities to serve our community have come across my desk recently. If you’re looking for a way to impact our community for good give me a call or email.

Glad you are here today!
