If you have questions not addressed below, contact Todd.

What if I can’t make it to any of the meetings or want to read through the Bible on my own?

Although we believe that sharing this journey with others will be most beneficial, we will provide a reading plan for anyone to follow and publish those readings in The Messenger.

Will these DMC’s meet through the summer?

Yes, they will. Although we do have some special events planned each summer, we do plan on meeting every time we can. If we miss a week we will give people the option to comment on any of the readings since the last meeting.

What will the DMC’s look like?

We will be arranged in circles and give everyone in the group an opportunity to share their response to the week’s reading using a series of questions/prompts. Each person will be allowed 5 minutes to comment and we respectfully ask everyone to abide by that so each member of the group can participate.

What are the questions/prompts?

Here they are! You will be asked to respond to two prompts each week.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION WHILE READING THE BIBLE

  1. What message was God conveying to the original readers?
  2. How is God using this to speak to me?
  3. How does this relate to 2025?
  4. What am I going to change because I read this?
  5. Is there a lesson to learn?
  6. Is there a sin to avoid?
  7. Is there a blessing to enjoy?
  8. Is there a promise to claim?
  9. Is there a new thought to carry with me?
  10. Who needs to hear this message?

 Is everyone expected to talk?

Short answer, yes. You will be surprised how your comments on the week’s reading can impact someone else in your group. One of the blessings of these DMC’s is to see Scripture through the eyes and experiences of other believers.

How will the groups be formed?

After we have collected all the forms from those wanting to participate, we will then form those groups based on your stated preferences. We will try to match you with those preferences but hope you will understand if we are unable to. A lot of this depends on signups and DMC leaders. Once you are assigned a group, we ask that you not switch. If there is an extenuating circumstance that you feel requires you to change groups, please contact a minister or elder.

What if I fall behind or miss a week’s reading?

Of course, we want everyone to read each week and see these DMC’s as an accountability system, but we do understand that some weeks may present a challenge. In that case you can simply pass your turn – no judgment even if you fall behind several weeks. If that is the case, we recommend you moving on to the current week’s reading and not try to catch up.

What if I don’t have a Bible or can’t afford the additional books?

Contact the church office and we will get you a Bible for sure. The additional resources will be provided even if you can’t make a donation.
