TODD'S TAKE
Good morning and welcome to our Sunday worship service. Glad to have everyone here. A special welcome to our guests. Let us know what we can do to help you in your spiritual journey.
Today I will continue preaching sermons that you want to hear (not that you don’t want to hear every sermon I preach). I call it Parishioner’s Picks—you submit a scripture and I’ll preach the sermon. Today we will look at Matthew 11:28–30 — “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
What a beautiful invitation Jesus offers us.
Christian Theater Workshop has been a great success with over 100 kids in attendance and dozens of volunteers. Words cannot express how blessed we are at PACOC for all the servant hearts we have here. What a delight to see the kids learning about the powerful story of Moses and the Exodus and our adults leading the way. If you haven’t seen a performance you still have a chance to catch Promised Land today at 4 PM.
This Wednesday we will finish up Season One of The Chosen. We will meet in the atrium at 6:30. This depiction of the ministry of Jesus has been so eye-opening and insightful. The entire season is available to stream online. Take a look at it, you’ll be glad you did.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 19. The churches of Denison are planning a Back to Church Sunday calling everyone to connect or reconnect to a church on that day and resume or begin their involvement with the body of Christ. Although we have seen most of our crowds come back after the pandemic there are still many who have fallen out of the habit of worshipping on Sunday. In addition, there are so many who once were involved in a church but for whatever reason have drifted away. And then there are those who have never been to church. Back to Church Sunday is a call to come back to where you belong—to a body of believers worshipping the Lord and living out your faith in community. That Sunday there will be a celebration at Forest Park from 4:30-6:00 PM followed by a community worship at Munson Stadium from 6:00—7:00 PM. For more information go to denisoncomeback.com. Let’s get Denison back to church!
