TODD'S TAKE
Good Sunday to you and welcome to our worship.
This morning in our sermon time we will continue our journey through 1 John. Today we will be in 1 John 4:1-6. This section contains one of my all-time favorite verses. I even have it on a little plaque I have in my office. Verse 4 says, “Greater is He who is in me than He who is on the world.” What a great vote of confidence John gives his readers and us as we all face the day-in and day-out struggles of this world. The forces of evil may be strong but the Spirit God has given us is greater and can help us overcome the evil one. This verse became one of my favorites years ago at a youth conference (yes, that long ago) when I was introduced to this verse as a song. We would sing it lightly at first and with each repetition get louder and louder until the singing was thunderous. I still hear that song in my mind often when faced with spiritual decisions in my life. May these words of John give you the confidence you need as you live your life for Him.
Our Youth ministry is in full swing and it’s awesome to see a full summer program. Such great spiritual growth can take place in these summer months. We are blessed to have the resources to provide these opportunities to our kids and a great youth ministry team to lead them. Let’s never fail to be an encouragement and example to these watching souls.
Let me encourage you to not only be blessed by our Sunday morning together in worship but also to take advantage of other opportunities to be in the word. Sunday morning class at 9 am and The Chosen on Wednesday nights are great opportunities to build you up. Also, find a way to serve or share. Kingdom business is the best!
