Thank You's
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped honor fathers at the Nacho Average Dad Bash last Sunday! Andy Russell cracked us up with his original dad jokes, and Randy Truxal, Terri and Landry Laird helped everyone tee off in putt putt golf. Hats off to Melesa & Mike Stewart and Dennis & Connie Deckard for the yummy nachos, and Shannon Haynes and Abby Laird for the wooden craft fun!
Words cannot express the love felt by our family from our Park Avenue Church family for the funeral service of our mom, Margie Lowing. The luncheon was amazing. The singing was beautiful and the words spoken were perfect. I also want to thank you for the plant. The many cards she received during her illness cheered her greatly. You all are forever in our hearts. Love, Donna Harrelson

TODD’S TAKE
What a joy it is to have you with us this morning. We are so glad you chose to spend part of your day here — worshiping together, sharing communion, and opening God's Word. Whether this is your first Sunday with us or you have been coming for years, welcome. We are glad you are here.
In our sermon time this morning we are going to continue our series The Crown Divided — our journey through the northern kingdom of Israel and its nineteen kings.
We are approaching the end of this series — though I will have one more sermon to wrap things up. Today we reach the end of the kings themselves. Six stand between us and the fall of Samaria.
But here is what we want you to know. While they were tearing each other apart inside the palace, something was rising in the east that had been mowing down nations for decades. The Assyrian Empire. The most terrifying military machine the ancient world had ever produced. Damascus had fallen. Galilee had been emptied. The shadow was not on the horizon. It was at the door.
And when the pressure came, these kings ran. To their money. To their allies and coalitions and networks of influence. Back to the very things that had already failed them. Not one of them ran to God.
Then we cross the border into Judah. Same shadow. Same army. One king who did something none of the northern kids thought of — he walked into the temple and prayed. And that changed everything!
