MESSAGE FROM BASIL
It’s always a blessing to worship God together. It is a privilege and honor to exalt the Name that is above all other names, Jesus Christ, King of kings and Lord of lords.
Lately I’ve been reading in the book of Deuteronomy. The phrase that jumped out at me was “that it may go well with you” (Deuteronomy 4:40). God’s desire is and has always been that it may go well with His children. Thirteen times in the Bible this phrase is used to speak God’s desire for His followers. He loves us and has given us His loving boundaries and counsel in the Word of God. He asks that we keep Him first because when we don’t, other idols come in and destroy our intimate relationship with Him. God makes it clear He will bless us physically, relationally, spiritually, and financially when we consult Him and keep our eyes on Him. His desire – that it may go well with you – is a promise to claim. However, we’ve got to do our part by “seeking His face” (Psalm 27:8) and be honest with ourselves daily regarding our walk with Him. David says it beautifully when he said “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24). When God reveals my sin, I repent and turn toward Him. Daily as we walk in the light of His Presence, He reveals Himself and gives us power through the Holy Spirit, so that it will go well with us, whatever comes our way.
