New Bible Storybooks at Denison Public Library
We have some exciting news for the children in our local community! The generous contributions of individuals at Park Avenue have been used to purchase a variety of 50 new children’s Bible story books to place in circulation at the Denison Public Library. This is stage one to give greater opportunity for young readers to encounter the God of the Bible and Jesus, His only Son. If the new books proved to be popular and frequently borrowed, the library will welcome the purchase of more such books. (We already have money in reserve for a second stage of adding more books.) I encourage you to spread the word to friends and neighbors that the library has new book choices on their shelves in the children’s reading area!—Rachel McClure

TODD’S TAKE
Good morning and welcome to our worship services this morning.

As we enter into the season of Thanksgiving I will begin a series of sermons this morning encouraging us to count our many blessings. The Bible is replete with encouragements to be a thankful people. Here are a few verses expressing that sentiment:

  • 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18 (NIV) — Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
  • Ephesians 5:20 (NLT) — And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Colossians 3:17 (NIV) — And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. And the often-recurring refrain from Psalms:
  • Psalm 118:1 (NIV) — Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

As we enter into our worship this morning take a few minutes (or maybe complete this later this afternoon) to list ten things you are grateful for:
