TODD’S TAKE

Good morning and welcome to our worship services this morning.

Today in our sermon time I will continue our journey through the book of James. Our text this morning will be James 1:22-26. A theme of this short letter is to encourage believers to make sure that our faith is a faith that works. There are many ways our faith is on display, but one of the more obvious and daily demonstrations of our faith is what comes out of our mouth. In today’s text James will address that and will circle back to this topic later in chapter 3. His emphasis in chapter one is to encourage us to be more dedicated to listening than to responding. So many times I find myself saying something either untrue or hurtful because I have not done the hard work of listening first. His advice “be quick to listen” certainly hits home with me. May we all listen carefully to James’ advice as we spend time in the Word.

Thanksgiving Food Drive
Our Thanksgiving Food Drive will end next Sunday, September 29th. So if you haven’t already grabbed a tab or two, please do that today and help us stock our pantry at the Barnabas Center so we can prepare and hand out food packages during the Thanksgiving holiday. Tabs are available in the atrium this morning. Thanks to everyone who has already donated. For more information on this ministry or to volunteer go to barnbascenter.org.
