TODD’S TAKE
Good morning and welcome to our worship services this morning. If you are a guest this morning our prayer is that you are encouraged and blessed by our time together this morning.

Today in the sermon time we will begin a new series of lessons from the book of James. It’s a book I have always been drawn to. This short letter seems to speak to so many things I experience and struggle with day in and day out. Anger, wisdom, harsh language, prejudice, pride, and money are all topics James touches on as he leads believers into a faith that demonstrates itself through the everyday living of life. Our faith, if genuine, must make a difference in how we live and how we navigate all the complexities of being human. I encourage you to read through this short letter as in the weeks to come we will dive into James’s wise words to all believers.

As I write this the elders and minsters are preparing for our annual leadership retreat. Barry Stephens, our consultant with the Siburt Institute, will be leading a portion of the retreat as we discuss your input through the focus groups and church health assessment. Thank you for all your prayers and encouragement as we seek the Lord's will for the Park Avenue Church of Christ.

Make sure to pass through the Atrium this morning and grab a tab or two in support of our Barnabas Center. The goal is to provide Thanksgiving meals for 150 families.  In addition to this special drive, the Barnabas Center distributes food to over 100 households representing over 500 individuals monthly. We also provide “weekend to go kits” to more than 100 DISD students who experience food insecurity. May God be praised as we serve our community in the name of Jesus.

So glad you are here!
