Baptism
Congratulations to Zane Bellows who was baptized into Christ on August 14th by David Kirkbride.  We rejoice with Zane and his family.
 
Let’s Get Acquainted Luncheon
Today immediately after worship we will have a luncheon for new members and guests. This is a great opportunity for you to get to know our ministers, elders and their families.
 
This Wednesday
Join us again this Wednesday, August 23, in the worship center for an evening of praise. We will be singing old songs, new songs, and some children's songs.  This is a great time in the middle of the week to reconnect with the Lord and with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
 
Lady Jacket Breakfasts
Our Lady Jacket Breakfasts will be kicking off Friday, September 8. If you’re looking for a great way to serve our DISD students, here it is! Contact Tyler or Todd if you want to help out.
 
Trip to Israel, 2024
Last call for a trip to the Holy Land with Western Heights Church of Christ. Tour dates are April 29-May 14.  Cost from Newark, New Jersey is $5429.00 per person. The deposit and registration form must be submitted by January 1 and final payment is due by end of March. A commitment would be required sometime in September. PAWS Volunteers
Our Park Avenue Wednesday Suppers will start back on September 6.  We are in need of team leaders and volunteers to set up, clean up, and prepare food. You can volunteer on the app, on the website, or contact Shelly Calvert directly at (972) 989-7025.  
 
Minister’s Cookoff
We will conclude our summer Wednesday activities with our annual Minister’s Cookoff at 6:00 pm in the courtyard on August 30.

TODD'S TAKE
Good morning! So good to have you with us for our Sunday gathering to worship, commune, fellowship, and be in the Word. If you are a guest with us today, a special welcome. If you are a Christian and are looking for a church home, we would be glad to talk to you about Park Avenue. If you have come with interest in Christianity and would like to know more about what we believe, we would love to talk to you about our faith.

Our Parishioner’s Pick for this morning is a scripture encouraging us to meet together for mutual encouragement. With the increase of digital and virtual connections we can easily diminish the importance of meeting together in person. The church, as a social institution, faces the dilemma of leveraging technology to advance its mission while maintaining the value of face-to-face interactions. The question we must ask is if we can experience this mutual encouragement in online places or if this mutual encouragement can be experienced only with in person meetings. Or can it be accomplished using a hybrid approach. Add to that the onset of artificial intelligence and the church and Christians need to carefully consider how these technologies affect the church’s vision.
 

FALL BACK INTO COMMUNITY
September will be back soon and is a great opportunity to Fall Back into one of our Disciple Making Communities (DMC’s).

On Sunday morning at 9 we have an adult class and after church and in the evening we have several opportunities for fellowship and Bible study. On Wednesday evenings we have communities for all ages here at the church. All those communities will resume on Wednesday, September 6 as well as our Park Avenue Wednesday Suppers (PAWS). PAWS begins at 5:15 and then our classes begin at 6:30.

The Mary/Martha Ladies Class will also be resuming Wednesday, September 6 at 10 AM here at the building.
