Baptism

Congratulations to Emily Schackleford  who was baptized into Christ last Sunday. We rejoice with Emily and her family.

Thank you

Thank you precious church family. You’ve been so kind, so concerned and so helpful during my and Bill’s most difficult time. Thank you seems so inadequate a response to all of the prayers, love, cards, calls and visits we’ve had. The food, the plants and flowers, the unending offer to help with whatever we needed. You are an amazing support system. Bill was so grateful, I'm so grateful. And all that love and support spoke volumes to our families as they watched the outpouring of love while they were here before and after his passing, and at his service. Thank you Todd and Basil for a beautiful celebration service. Thank you, thank you, thank you all!

We love you much. Linda Heironimus

Todd's Take

Our Parishioner’s Pick for this morning is a scripture related to prayer. Prayer is a theme throughout the Bible and Paul even encourages us to “pray without ceasing.” I would think all of us pray, or we should. Prayer can be such a healing and encouraging time for us in both good times and bad times.

As much as we know the benefits of prayer and the command to pray, it is still a mysterious practice. We pray to a God we cannot see and very often we fail to see results, at least immediate ones (and aren't those what we want.) In spite of the mystery and the frustrations, we must never give up this practice. It is essential to our spiritual growth and, as we will see today, we are assured that our prayers do get to the throne of God.

Today during our announcement time we will watch a video report of our summer mission trips to Togo and Mexico. We are so grateful for all those who went on these trips, but know that they would not be possible without the church’s financial support in our Grace Offering. I said “our” mission trips because that's what they are. Whether we went or we sent we are all participants in the mission to bring the message of Christ to the world. We often hear of the decline in church attendance, but I hear of the opposite trend worldwide. In many parts of the world Christianity is being embraced in increasing numbers. Let’s not grow weary in our calling to “GO.”
