TODD'S TAKE
Good morning and welcome to our worship. It is good to have everyone with us in person today and we are glad to have those of you who are joining us online.
As we start this new year and move into Covenant Sunday we want to call PACOC members to evaluate their spiritual lives. Paul urges the believers in Corinth to do just that when he writes to them in 2 Corinthians 13:5 saying, “Test yourselves to make sure you are solid in the faith. Don’t drift along taking everything for granted. Give yourselves regular checkups. You need firsthand evidence, not mere hearsay, that Jesus Christ is in you. Test it out. If you fail the test, do something about it.” (MSG)
To help each of us do that we are proposing a three word slogan to examine three important aspects of discipleship—Pray, People, Purpose. “Pray” is examining our commitment to spiritual disciplines like worship, prayer, Bible reading. “People” is examining the spiritual relationships we have like being in a DMC or Bible class. “Purpose” examines our level of servanthood and participation in the ministries of the church.
That’s what I’ll be talking about in today’s sermon, but start thinking about how you measure up in those three areas—Pray, People, Purpose.
Fifth Sunday
Due to unforeseen circumstances we were not able to sell our two lots and use those proceeds to help pay off the Ark. We still hope to sell those in the near future. However, in light of that we will apply $7,500 from our Fifth Sunday Contribution today to the mortgage.
Covenant Sunday
Covenant Sunday is next Sunday, February 6. Please make plans to be here as we recommit ourselves to the Lord and our service through this church.
