TODD'S TAKE
Good morning and welcome to our worship. It is good to have everyone with us in person today and we are glad to have those of you who are joining us online. We continue to hope and pray for the day when we can all be together in person. As valuable as our streaming service is, there is nothing like being together in the same place singing, praying, and fellowshipping with one another.
This morning during the sermon time we are going to take a look at the core beliefs we hold to as the Park Avenue Church of Christ. Every organization is built upon some set of beliefs, and the church is no different. Although many of us have for years adhered to these beliefs, it is becoming more and more important for us to confirm those teachings in a culture that is less and less affirming of the historic Christian doctrines. These beliefs are on our website at www.pacoc.net/about/our-beliefs. This Sunday there will also be a link on our website where can access that page. Knowing our beliefs and being committed to those beliefs is critical as our behavior is most often driven by what we believe to be true. Commitment to those beliefs is also what will give us the staying power to faithfully live out the life we are called to as disciples. As we present these beliefs there is an implied expectation from the church leadership that our members affirm these as well. If you have questions we always welcome those and are eager to have deeper conversations with our members and guests.
Next week is Covenant Sunday where we renew our commitment to our calling and our commitment to faithful service through this church. Our theme this year is simply SERVE and our theme verse is Mark 10:45 where Jesus says, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” As we follow in his steps we take on the role of servant in our church, families, workplaces, and communities.
Lord, make me a servant!
